This Gitana 43 was built in Cape Town SA in 1988 by Two Oceans Marine. She was built to order by her first owner to a strengthened cruising spec. She underwent a complete internal upgrade in 2011, the original engine was replaced and the standing rigging replaced. The wiring has also been replaced. A Hydroline feathering prop was fitted 2009.
Three Ships has completed a circumnavigation of the globe and has just returned from a tour of Iceland.
The present owners purchased Three Ships in Florida in 1999 and in June 2000 sailed her on the non stop 4300nm voyage back to their home port of Y Felinheli on the Menai Strait in North Wales.
After carrying out a substantial refit including new engine, replacing all standing rigging and rewiring the electrics, they had her coded to Cat 1 and set up a sea school, Three Ships Yacht Charter, based at Y Felinheli. For two years they ran extended RYA Yachtmaster courses up and down the Irish sea including the west coast of Scotland.
Then in July 2002 they left UK waters for some more extended cruising and a new adventure. This adventure lasted for 14 years. They continued their sea school by having guests come to join them for sections of their voyage, where they could learn about ocean cruising.
As ambassadors for the Ocean Cruising Club, sharing their experiences has benefited countless other sailors throughout this remarkable endeavour. Intrepid ocean sailors, they have cruised some remote destinations, become immersed within local communities and made friends wherever they have travelled.
Now she is ready for private ownership or for continued use as a sailing school. She is well-appointed and provides a comfortable live aboard as well as an excellent sailing yacht.

Three Ships has excellent well designed accommodation. There are eight berths in total in three cabins.
The after cabin/ owners berth has a large double berth with separate access to the cockpit, with a heads compartment adjacent. If being used commercially, this means the guests are quite separate from the instructors.
The saloon is spacious and beautifully finished in wood. This provides a comfortable space for relaxing at the end of a day's sailing.
The saloon provides two settee berths plus a fold down pilot berth on the port side.
The fore cabin has a number of configurations and can offer up to three further berths, either three single berths or a large double with single above.
There is a second heads compartment located forward. This heads is connected to a holding tank.
The accommodation is served by a MV Aero 5 blown air diesel heater, fitted 2017.
The galley is attractive and efficient with Corian worktops. It has a Broadwater four burner gimbaled stove with oven and grill.
There is a stainless steel sink with hot and cold water. In addition to the Pur 40E watermaker there is a Berkfield water filter in the galley for drinking water.
There is also an Adler Barber fridge with freezer box.
