Vertue Classic Wooden Yacht - £18,950

This Vertue classic wooden yacht was designed by Jack Laurent Giles and is number 45 in her class. Icebird was built in 1952 in the UK by Aeromarine and is a long keel heavy displacement cutter rigged Bermudan sloop.

Vertues are renowned as tough seaworthy little ships capable of long ocean passages. Icebird has cruised to the West Indies, Newfoundland and the North coast of Iceland. Once described as 'the most perfect small ocean going yacht that has ever been built' by Humphrey Burton in his book 'Vertue XXXV' following his celebrated Atlantic crossing in 1950.

Icebird is a beautiful example of this classic yacht. She comes with the original 'blue book' and the owners listed there have made long and exciting passages.

The engine is a Volvo MD7A 13HP with good access all around.

Icebird is a cutter able to hoist a staysail and a jib and has running backstays tensioned by highfield levers.

A pair of beaching legs can be fitted to allow the vessel to take the ground if required, and a storage cradle is included in the inventory.
